Running a creative business isn’t all rainbows and parades. But you can still feel resilient, joyful, and calm while doing the work you love.

About you.

You’re a queer creative entrepreneur and you want to take better care of your body, mind, and heart so you can thrive in business and life. But you find it hard to prioritise self care and make new healthy habits stick. You feel overwhelmed, stuck, or confused about where to start or what to do.

You dream of being free from the constant cycles of stress, overwhelm, anxiety, or burnout. And you just want practical, actionable steps to help you reclaim your sense of joy, inner peace, and aliveness while doing the creative work you love.

If any of this sounds like what you’re going through, then I’m so glad you’ve found your way here.

Hey! I’m Musa Francis.

My pronouns are he/him.

As your resilience coach, I’m here to help you cultivate radical resilience and bloom into a healthier, calmer, more joyful version of yourself.

Did you know that queer folks experience higher rates of poor mental health?

Did you know that 52% of LGBTQ+ folks struggle with depression and 61% experience anxiety? 31% of LGB people have thought about taking their own lives, and those rates are even higher at 46% for trans folks. Entrepreneurs also have high rates of poor mental health, with 30% living with depression, 27% with anxiety, 45% struggling with stress, and 28% feeling burnt-out.

I do the work I do because these stats are my story.

Burnout: Lost In The Darkness

Five years into running my illustration and stationery design studio, I found myself sitting in a dark, quiet room, the only light coming from my glowing lightbox. I’d been staring at the same unfinished illustration for what felt like an eternity, my hand frozen, unable to put ink to paper. My mind was wrapped in a suffocating blanket of fog, where inspiration, creativity, and curiosity had long since vanished.

I was exhausted—physically, mentally, emotionally, and creatively. I was completely burned out. And my mind, body, business, and life were falling apart. The most devastating part? I’d lost the passion for the work I once loved deeply. I felt like a fraud, an imposter in my own life. How could I, a creative professional, have lost all my creative energy?

Disconnect: The Cost Of Survival

I didn’t recognise the person I had become. I was irritable, angry, and overwhelmed. Even the smallest things set me off, and I found myself resenting everything and everyone around me—my business, my clients, my family, and most painfully, myself.

My days became a loop of dissatisfaction: when I was working, I yearned to be with my family, yet when I was with them, all I wanted was to be locked away in my studio. I felt trapped in a life I had worked so hard to create, yet I couldn’t enjoy any of it.

Trying to be the perfect illustrator, business owner, partner, parent, and homemaker all at once was slowly tearing me apart. I realised I was in serious trouble when I found myself wishing I could just go to bed, fall asleep, and never wake up, or perhaps even suffer some fatal accident.

These dark thoughts were all too familiar, and I knew I needed help. But after past experiences with therapy that left me re-traumatised and a bad reaction to antidepressants, I was hesitant. I knew I needed a new path. That’s when I decided to work with a coach to help me rebuild my life from the inside out.

Through coaching, I began to understand how much I’d disconnected from my authentic self as a queer, gender-nonconforming child to survive.

Transformation: Reclaiming Myself

Growing up in an Afro-Christian household in the UK, being my true self was neither safe nor acceptable. I learned early on to dim my light, put on a mask, and perform conformity—never realising that this was a slow and painful death of my soul.

The fear of being found out, of being truly seen, and the endless cycle of perfectionism and imposter syndrome all fuelled my burnout. My nervous system, overwhelmed by a lifetime of minority stress, hypervigilance, and trauma, could no longer tolerate the weight I was carrying.

Working with my coaches, I started to release these harmful beliefs and behaviour patterns. I began a deep, regenerative self-care practice, reconnecting with my body, reclaiming my mind, and freeing myself from the constraints I’d been living under.

It wasn’t easy—there were days where I still found myself back in that dark studio, dissociating at the mere thought of putting ink to paper. But slowly, I began to heal. My body, mind, heart, and soul started to synchronize in a dance of renewal and rebirth.

Living in bloom: Embracing Authenticity

Realising just how much I’d fallen in love with the transformative process of coaching and how powerful it had been for me as a client, I retrained as a health, fitness, and life coach.

And five years into running my coaching practice, I made one of the most powerful decisions of my life: to fully embrace my authentic self and live boldly as the queer trans man I am. I realised that my path to healing was not just about managing stress or avoiding burnout but about truly honouring, nurturing, and nourishing every part of myself—body, mind, heart, and soul.

Today, I am thriving. I wake up most days with a sense of joy, passion, and inner peace I never thought possible. My creative energy has returned, stronger than ever, and I am more resilient in navigating life's challenges. I run my businesses with clarity and focus, feeling more confident in my ability to live and work authentically. I have cultivated a deep well of self-awareness, self-compassion, self-acceptance, self worth, and self-love that guides me every day.

I now spend more time outside of survival mode, tapping into my body’s innate wisdom, honouring my needs, and moving with more ease through stress and overwhelm.

I now have the tools to nurture my wellbeing, navigate challenges with more ease, and thrive both in my personal life and in my business. I’m continually blooming into the most joyful, empowered, and authentic version of myself.
